For those only traveling as far north as the Gold Coast there is an opportunity to visit the Great Barrier Reef with Seair’s flights to Lady Elliot Island. The flight itself is a pleasure, lasting ninety minutes. Leaving the Gold Coast you fly north along the Broadwater and Moreton Bay, past Caloundra, Noosa, Double Island Point and the length of Frazer Island before you reach the southern end of the Barrier Reef. As you come in to land if you look north you will see another small reef island, Lady Musgrave. In their Charter Boat days John and Jan visited the lagoon at Lady Musgrave many times. As you travel north and visit your first coral island of the season it is an experience like no other, the white coral sand, clear blue water with its abundance of life and mass of sea birds. For lovers of nature it’s a sheer joy.
